May 27, 2017 – Sarasota, FL – What is Memorial Day? It is a day of remembrance to those who have put their lives on the line for God and Country.
A day that we honor their military call to arms whether they passed fighting for the very values we hold dear to our hearts or just managed to squeak out a long life and go quietly as God would have it. But none the less a day we give to them.
My father Petty Officer Michael Sabb is interred at the Sarasota National Cemetery. He is there not because of a great love for my father but for the love of this country that he served honorably. He served in the Navy during Korea and for his service to our country, I honor his military call. He passed away on December 20th, 2016. So this is the first time I will be going to a cemetery on Memorial Day.
Then a parade to celebrate our heroes.
Memorial Day has always been a special day for me, but this year it has even more meaning to me now as I can put a name along with all that I have honored in years past to that memory.
Thank you Dad for your service.
